Mad Square Movie Review: The film team made the young audience laugh with the movie 'Mad'. Now, a sequel to the film is in the works. 'Mad Square', directed by Kalyan Shankar and starring Narne Nithin-Sangeet Shobhan-Ram Nithin, has hit the screens today. And has this made the audience laugh like 'Mad'? Let's find out.

Mad Square Movie Story:

The 'Mad' gang, Manoj (Ram Nithin), Ashok (Narne Nithin), and Damodar (Sangeet Shobhan), who have completed their studies and settled down in life, come to their house to watch the wedding of their friend Laddu (Vishnu Oy). But shortly after the wedding, the bride and the boy who came with the 'Mad' gang get married to another boy.

This makes Laddu angry with his friends. Before he cools down, the Mad gang leaves for Goa, where they had planned their honeymoon. But when they get there, they get into a big problem. What was that problem? How they get out of it is the rest of the story.

Mad Square Movie Analysis:

We have seen many comedy films in Telugu, but 'Mad' is special among them. There is no story in it. There is no screenplay structure. Just creating some situation between gangs in college. Making characters stand out and giving funny dialogues.. The whole film is like this.

But those jokes exploded and provided entertainment. The hero and heroine looked attractive.. They performed as befits the characters.. The college setup was well done.. The film impressed the youth with good songs. It is natural to expect more entertainment from this film, which means a sequel. This time, if the story is set in college, it will become monotonous. The whole setup has been changed to a wedding in Goa.

But this setup is not as entertaining as expected. The entertainment that came naturally in 'Mad'.. But here, it feels like a first. Director Kalyan Shankar has failed to create the right situations and naturally entertain like in 'Mad'. That's not to say that there are no laughs in this.. Some scenes are really funny. But there is no non-stop fun dose like in 'Mad'.

'Mad Square' starts off very promisingly. This story begins with the 'Mad' gang meeting again for Laddu's wedding after college life is over. Laddu is happy that his friends have come and is worried about what kind of headache they will cause.. That's why the three friends are making a lot of noise.. The scenes at the wedding house are going on in a noisy manner. Especially when Laddu's wedding is canceled.. The subsequent developments are laugh-out-loud funny.

Although it is a comedy that we have seen in many movies.. the comedy seems hilarious in the context of embarrassing the friend by telling even those who did not ask about the wedding being canceled. In the end, scenes like the food delivery boy in Goa feeling sorry for him when he tells the matter make the audience's stomachs churn. 'Mad' continues in a fun manner until some time after the story shifts from the wedding house to Goa.

But 'Mad' goes off the rails when it is given a touch of crime comedy to this story. The comedy is not good in the episodes that are reminiscent of many Bollywood movies. The second half, which also reminds us of the movie 'Jathiratnalu', could not engage the audience as much as expected. After a certain point, it seems that the director ran out of punches.

All the characters have become so accustomed that you can predict who will say what and how they will react to something. That is why the comedy punches did not explode. They could not create the right situations to cultivate comedy in the second half. The confusing comedy in Brothel House is completely clear.

Only a few scenes around Sunil's character as a mafia don are funny. Since the movie is completely non-serious, there is no interest in the crime element. The ending scenes are not bad. Comedy in the first half. Good songs.. Priyanka Jawalkar-Monica Rebbala's charms in two songs are plus points.

But the lack of romantic tracks like in the first part is a minus. Overall.. 'Mad Square' seems okay for moderate entertainment. But you can't see organic comedy like 'Mad' in it. The sequel could not meet the expectations raised by the team, saying that it would be more than entertainment.

Actors Performence:

The 'Mad' gang acted with good energy. Sangeet Shobhan is once again excited. He seems more confident compared to the first part. His comedy timing seems good. Ram Nithin also acted smartly. Narne Nithin seems just okay.

Vishnu Oy gets more marks than these three heroes. He makes you laugh in every scene. Seeing Vishnu as a guy whose marriage has been ruined makes you laugh. Muralidhar Goud is amazing in his father's role. The major highlight of the film is the fun of this father-son duo. Sunil impresses in the role of a comedy don. Satyam Rajesh.. Anish Kuruvilla.. they all seem ordinary.

Technical Category:

'Mad Square' seems technically okay. Bheems Cicerolio has provided good songs with a good beat. But 'Mad' lacks a catchy song like 'Nuvvu Nalavachha..'. Thaman's background score is lively. Shyam Dutt's cinematography is good. The visuals are colorful. The production values are in line with the film.

Writer-cum-director Kalyan Shankar tried to run the film in a Bindaas style in the first part. He managed to make people laugh quite well. In 'Mad', he wrote fresh scenes in the college setting.. but in 'Mad Square', he followed the confusing crime comedies he had seen many times. You get the feeling that his comedy pen has gone beyond a certain point.
